Allen Evenson was born on September 12, 1943, in Black River Falls, Wisconsin to Victor and Alice Rae Evenson. He grew up in Alma Center, Wisconsin where he knew everyone. After high school he attended WSU River Falls. While attending college he went on a blind date with Alice Folz. Allen got his Bachelor of Science degree and he and Alice moved to Milton-Freewater, Oregon where he took a job with USDA. While in Milton-Freewater he and Alice were married on August 6, 1967. In January 1968 they were blessed with their son Scott and then in 1971 their daughter Jodi.
In 1972 he and his family moved to Prosser and Allen started his job with Twin City Foods. At that time Allen and his family started attending Messiah Lutheran Church. Allen enjoyed his church family and sharing his time and skills to help keep the church working and looking good. During his years in Prosser Allen met many friends and spent time cutting wood, playing Wednesday night basketball, fishing, playing cards, and attending numerous sporting events.
He was a true Mustang fan and enjoyed talking about Mustang sports wherever he was. His love for sports led him to being involved in helping coach softball where he was loved by the girls for showing up with french fries. One of his greatest Mustang joys was being part of the football chain gang for many years. But even greater than his love for the Mustangs, Mariners, Seahawks, and Brewers was the love he had for his family.
He enjoyed hours of card games with his grandkids and all the family vacations spent at the beach and Wisconsin. His greatest delight of 2025 was when his great-grandson Weston was born.
Allen passed away on Sunday, July 27 in his sleep. His friendly smile and chatty phone calls will be missed by all that knew him.
Allen is proceeded in death by his father Victor and his mother Alice Rae. He is survived by his wife Alice Evenson, son Scott (Leanne) Evenson, daughter Jodi (Casey) Hofstad. He was a proud grandfather to Ashlynn (Spencer) Brunson, Kestin Hofstad, Briston Stone, Danielle Evenson, and great-grandson Weston Brunson who brought him great joy. Allen is also survived by his loving sister Rozanne (Vince) Ruzic and her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.
We will celebrate the wonderful man Allen was with a service at Messiah Lutheran Church in Prosser on Thursday, August 7 at 11:00. A lunch will be held after to share stories, just like Al loved.
In lieu of flowers please donate to Messiah Lutheran (801 Luther Lane, Prosser) or Prosser Booster Club (P.O. Box 1552, Prosser) two things that truly brought joy to his heart – his faith and sports.
