David Steele Wyant 84, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026.
Born on February 15, 1941, in São Paulo, Brazil, David’s life was marked by a deep commitment to education, family, faith and community. He dedicated over three decades – 32 and a half years – to teaching fourth grade.
David was raised in Grandview, WA and was the beloved son of Barbara (Steele) Wyant and Jess Wyant. He has a loving sister, Ann (Wyant) White in Massachusetts. As well as his nephew Eric (Karin), great niece Hannah and great nephew Paul. He was preceded in death by his parents and cherished wife, Sheryl (Leedy) Wyant. Together they built a loving home and raised two children: Mark Wyant and Beth (Wyant) Monfils, David’s legacy continues through his grandchildren Isaiah Sanders (Belma Smajic) and Kaylyn Sanders (Ernesto Para), as well as his great-grandchildren Cameron, CJ, Alaïa and Jasiah.
A man of strong faith, David was a member of Anchor Point Church. His relationship with the Lord brought him comfort throughout his life. He was known for regularly checking on family – a simple but powerful reflection of how deeply he cared for those around him.
David had a lifelong passion for sports. He followed the Prosser Mustangs with enthusiasm, often calling the high school to stay updated on their latest games. He was also an avid fan of the Seattle Mariners, Seahawks and Gonzaga basketball – teams that brought him joy and some frustration season after season.
In his youth David participated in 4-H where he showed Jerseys, earning State and National recognition – an early sign of his dedication and work ethic. One of his proudest memories was making the only hit off future MLB pitcher, Mel Stottlemyre Sr during a one-hit high school baseball game – a moment he fondly recalled throughout his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 11, 2026, at 11 AM with lunch provided at Anchor Point Church, 609 Bonnieview Rd Grandview, WA.
