Mary R. (Hrenchir) Worden was born on a farm in rural Atwood, Kansas to Joseph and Josephine Hrenchir, the last to join her siblings of five on February 28, 1926. Mary has seen a lot since her early education began in a rural one room school house in Kansas, continuing on she graduated from an all-girls Catholic High School; during her attendance at school in Kansas she met her future husband Talmadge (TE) who was currently serving in the Air Force, they were married after he returned home from serving the end of his stint on Guam in World War II. They began their early years together in Sand Springs, OK. With a move on the horizon that next year they moved their way west with their first-born daughter. After spending some time in Prosser, Richland and Yakima, WA, they eventually settled in Prosser living there for over 65 years. In Prosser, she was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a member of their Altar Society and participated in many parishes activities during her many years there. In her recent years she was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Moxee after their move to Yakima. When she could no longer attend Mass she faithfully watched the services on EWTN. She had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and prayed for her family and the world especially America the land she loved most everyday plus, anyone else she knew who was going through a hard time; she was always praying.
Mary loved her flower gardens, sewed many a garment, quilted, crocheted, made many macrame and embroidery projects. Then in her later years (60+) Mary and TE took up painting, lining theirs and many family members’ walls with their masterpieces! Eventually Mary and TE ended up in Yakima to be closer to the majority of their daughters and to live out the rest of their lives!
In her last days she was surrounded by her daughters who took care of her under Hospice’s care, she leaves behind her beloved daughters:
Sandra (Bill) Metz, Rosemary (Ray) Tapp, Janet (Terry) Ingham, Bernadette Worden, Karen Worden, Sharon (Charlie) Rollinger, 16 Grandchildren, 29 (plus 1 due Nov.) Great Grandchildren, 13 Great-Great Grandchildren. A brother-in-law Tom and a special niece Mari and many more nieces and nephews.
Mary has left us with many wonderful memories: joining her deceased parents, her husband TE, infant daughter Elizabeth, grandson Marcus Ingham and her brothers and sisters William, Alice Hamil, Edith Smith, Henry and Veronica Ziegler.
In her last days Mom shared many found memories of living in Kansas with her family and talked a lot about the sunflower fields and the dust bowl. Mom stayed fit and active and has lived through many a joy and sorrow during her 99-1/2 years on this earth, and now she was ready to go and be with her loved ones who have gone before her. May she rest in peace in the brightness of Your everlasting glory Lord Jesus Christ!
