PAT ANN WICHERS

November 20, 1935 — March 14, 2026

PROSSER

Patricia “Pat” Ann Wichers

Patricia Ann (Evans) Wichers, 90, passed away on March 14, 2026 in Prosser, WA. She was born to Robert and Edna Evans of Prosser, WA, on November 20, 1935, the last of their 7 children. She grew up in Prosser, surrounded by family, and graduated from Prosser High School, class of 1953. After high school, she married Richard Holt and moved to western Washington, where they had 3 children together. When the marriage ended, Pat returned to her hometown of Prosser. She married Cornell Wichers in 1967, moved to Alderwood Manor, and had another child to round out their newly blended family. Pat and Cornell were married for 56 years before his death in 2023.

Pat was an excellent typist and used her secretarial skills at various jobs, including 22 years as a middle and high school school secretary for the Arlington School District, where she kept an eye on her kids, and many others. She was a faithful fan at all her children's sporting events, and was not afraid to disagree with the offi ciating. Though living away, she loved Prosser and visited frequently to visit her family.

She retired in 1997 and again moved back to Prosser in 1998, where she spent time tending her roses, volunteering at HOBS, working on class reunions, and joining a bowling league. She also found time to keep up with her grandchildren's sports and activities, and spent time with her many siblings. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church. She loved holidays and family gatherings and willingly participated in whatever adventures her family talked her into on vacations. Over the years, she found herself riding mopeds, tandem bicycles, playing putt-putt golf, and even kayaking. She was a surprisingly formidable ping-pong opponent.

At age 73, Pat had a pulmonary embolism that changed her life forever. After spending three months in the hospital and rehab center and with the help of her family and her loyal and tenacious husband Cornell, she battled to regain her speech and walking abilities. She was fairly successful, but was left unable to drive, bowl, or get around easily. Over the next 18 years, she declined steadily but maintained a peaceful attitude, never complaining, and thankfully kept her good sense of humor. Throughout her years, Pat was an avid fan of all the local sports teams, from the Mustangs to the Seahawks, the Mariners, and the Zags. She remained steadfast in her disappointment with the referees.

She leaves behind her children, Rick (Dawnell) Holt of Arlington, WA, Judi (Dean) Benson of Prosser, WA, James (Vicki) Holt of Prosser, WA , Renee (Jeff) Moore of Everett, WA, and her step-children Rhonda(Carl) Jager of Bellingham, WA and Greg (Dorie) Wichers of Mayfl ower, AR as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her fi rst child, Linda, her husband of 56 years, Cornell, her parents Robert and Edna, brothers (Bob, Ornia, Neil, Don, and Albert Evans) and her sister, Peggy Chapman.

The family would like to thank the Presbyterian Church for their support and attention, and Heartlinks Hospice for their care in her last few months. Special thanks are extended to the staff at Sun Terrace, where Pat lived out the last 7 years of her life. She was well taken care of to the end; their kindness and care much appreciated and never to be forgotten.
